Registration is open for our Great Smoky Mountains Overnight Camp Adventure in October for ages 8-11! This 3-day, 2-night trip to Bryson City, NC, about three hours away, departs at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and returns by 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, when schools are closed.
Campers will have the opportunity to explore the national park and the nearby Cherokee lands in a sleepaway camp environment with familiar educators and an adventurous itinerary. From 5 rustic bunk rooms in a comfortable 1900s style Appalachian lodge with kitchen and dining hall, Mr. Scott and a team of talented educators will lead several excursions, including:
Ziplining at Nantahala Gorge as the leaves are beginning to turn their gorgeous fall colors
Hiking at Deep Creek Three Waterfalls Loop in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Elk watching at the Oconaluftee National Park Visitor Center and Mountain Farm Museum, exploring 19th century life
Spending a cultural afternoon in Cherokee, NC, with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians for a museum tour and group lessons in music, dance, and pottery with a Cherokee craftsperson
All lodging, transportation, meals (except packed lunch first day), activities, and nightly campfires are included. Cost is $395 with drop-off Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and pickup on Monday from about 5-6 p.m.
Parents who would like to stay in separate lodging and join our Parent Passport program for select activities and/or meals, may inquire for more details about cost and available options, including nearby yurts or many cabins throughout the area
