We are so excited to announce our new Forest School coming soon for ages 3-5! Since 2010, we’ve served ages 5 and up for summer day camp and grades K-5 for after-school camp in the City of Decatur schools. Now, we can’t wait to begin nature appreciation and outdoor exploration for preschoolers in a formative time for their learning and connection to the natural world.
At our new location on the dead-end of Weekes Street, we have learning stations, gardens, chickens, a mud kitchen, and a playground with swings, slide, sandbox, and more. Our newest addition is a welcoming path across Shoal Creek to a hidden gem woodland with an outdoor classroom. Owner/Director Scott Seitz and his team of educators have been certified by the Forest School Teacher Institute to provide the best possible environmental education framework for this age level, with a focus on emergent curriculum. Stay tuned for more details on our philosophy and daily schedule. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the regular school year. Registration will be 2-day, 3-day, or 5-day, based on enrollment, with drop-ins opening based on availability.
In the meantime, help us spread the word! We are offering a family tour at 9 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, followed by a free day at forest school. Everyone who attends will receive a voucher for a free day, and the first 20 campers can redeem immediately and stay until 1 p.m. Attendees must be at least age 3 and toilet independent. Our theme for the day will be “Thankful for Nature” to extend the season of gratitude to the outdoors all around us. Check out event details on Facebook. Please call or text Scott at 404-502-3196 if you have any questions or would like more information! Check out our Facebook page for the event info to share, and be sure to check out the website for more information soon.
