Year ahead plans for Camp Scene

Updated: Feb 28, 2021

Who's ready for 2021? As we head into the last three weeks of the school year for 2020, Camp Scene is looking ahead to the new year like many of our campers and families probably are!

On the first day of school, we opened outdoor-focused Virtual Learning Pods with extensive COVID-19 precautions in place. Although the temperatures are dipping, we are making the most of the fresh air. As long as there are City Schools of Decatur virtual students who will benefit from our quality support, pods will continue.

The separate Afternoon Camp offers safe playground fun and nature enjoyment with interest club selections, such as Outdoor Recreation, Gardening & Chickens, Nature Art & Eco-Crafts, Science Fun, and Wildlife Wonders.

Here's the Parent Handbook for details about our safety measures and programming policies. Key highlights include:

  • Outdoor classroom focus with upgraded WiFi and portable lap desk with cushion

  • Separate workspaces and activities in different locations along clear pathways

  • Masks required inside, or less than 10 feet distanced outside

  • Indoor ventilation improvements

  • Modified playground recess and recreation with games and more

  • Diligent hygiene and health procedures to maintain our safe and healthy environment!

Current campers will have the first access to 2021 registration, and we are planning to add a 1:5 ratio pod in January with our available space. A couple spots are available now, so inquire about available days at

Here's more upcoming programming:

On site camps over Thanksgiving Break (11/23-11/25) and December Break (12/14-12/18 before Holiday Break) are open for registration now!

  • Campers ages 5-12 can socially connect while physically distancing with small group playground time, nature art and crafts; wildlife studies with animal interactions; plant explorations with gardening and time with the chickens; hands-on environmental science; and active movement, including nature yoga or games.

  • Sign up on the Parent Dashboard for two, three, or five days with drop-off at 9 a.m. and pickup until 5 p.m. Individual day variations are not available to limit any potential exposure.

Summer Camp 2021 will be here before we know it, and nature is calling! Registration is opening by the end of December. Campers who have a 2020 credit will have an exclusive registration period to sign up and get ready for a summer of fun with friends outdoors. We 100% can not wait!
